Reviews are not only beneficial to Amazon shoppers, but are effective to boost your brand’s conversion rate, credibility and overall brand appearance. If your product has zero reviews, few reviews or negative reviews — you are less likely to convince shoppers that your product beats competition. So how can you start receiving reviews on a new product? One option is to enroll in Amazon’s Early Reviewer Program.
The program encourages customers who have already purchased a product to share their authentic experience and feedback about that product, regardless of whether it is a 1-star or 5-star review. The benefit to the customer is that they will receive a small reward (e.g. $1-$3 Amazon gift card.) This means both sides have a victory!
Here are some things you should know about the program:
- The program is NOT free, it costs $60 per SKU. This fee is not charged until you get a review or a year has passed.
- Amazon hand selects customers to review. They only select individuals with no history of abusive or dishonest reviews.
- You can identify an Early Reviewer’s review with an orange badge that reads “Early Reviewer Rewards.”
Is it Worth Enrolling in this Program?
If your product has zero reviews or no reviews at all, we definitely recommend it. This program has its pros and cons, however, since reviews are extremely important to a listing, $60 is worth the trial. Here are the pros and cons we have gathered:
Pros:
- You receive honest reviews
- Your brand’s appearance is stronger with more reviews
- You can enroll multiple SKUs
- Amazon selects the reviewers for you
Cons:
- Sometimes takes a couple months to get the reviews back
- The possibility of negative reviews
- $60 per SKU
If your detail page is in tip top shape (optimized), and your product is true to the listing, this can be a great tool to boost the visibility of your product and increase sales.
How to Enroll
If you’re a seller on Amazon and you want to enroll in this program, follow these simple steps:
- Log onto your Seller Central account, hover over the ‘Advertising’ tab and select ‘Early Reviewer Program.’
2. Select ‘Enroll Now’
3. Enter the SKUs you would like to enroll. *Note: if a SKU already has too many reviews, Amazon will
automatically reject.
4. Submit the SKU(s) and confirm.
5. Wait for the reviews to come through!
Final Thoughts…
The enrollment process is extremely easy and could speed up the process of getting reviews. If your detail page is fully optimized and your product is true to your listing, this program could be extremely beneficial. Not only are you rewarded with a review, but the shopper is also rewarded for leaving the review.
